about me

Ilse Ruizvisfocri is a self taught writer, photographer and videographer born in the city of Colima, México. She graduated from college with a B.A. in International Business knowing a lot about economics, but little about life. Usually using one of her dad's random point and shoot cameras, Ilse started exploring with both photography and videos since she was 12. Since then, she has mixed poetry with audiovisual pieces, creating a wide library of pieces that explore topics like love, family, relationships, and the beauty of regular life.
In 2024 she self published her first short poetry collection online. That same year she started to participate in Poetry Slam Competitions in the New England area. In 2025 she won a place in the Boston Poetry Slam team, competing during the spring-summer season in different slams around the region. Later that year, she won the state slam competition and earned a spot to represent Colima in the National Championship in Mexico. This competition took place in October 2026, where after a close contention, Ilse placed first, becoming Mexico’s National Slam Poetry Champion.
Looking to create more projects that incorporate live music and currently living in New York City, Ilse is probably working behind some bar, trying to describe complexities and romance within the mundane life.
